Presidential Roles
Commander in Chief
As Commander in Chief, the President handles military decisions and commands the military, but cannot declare war.
Chief Diplomat
As Chief Diplomat, it is the duty of the President to direct all foreign policy, greet foreign ambassadors and to recognize foreign governments.



Legislative Leader
As the Legislative Leader, the President suggests new bills, signs or vetos all bills passed by Congress and uses his or her influence to get bills passed.
Presidential Powers

Make Treaties
With the advice and approval of the Senate, the President has the power to negotiate and sign treaties with foreign countries.
Grant Pardons
During his term, the President is given the power to grant pardons to any person for any infraction of United States law.

Presidential Appointments
With the consent of the Senate, the President is expected to appoint new justices to the Supreme Court if there is a vacant spot and appoints Cabinet members.
Executive Orders
Definition
Executive orders are legally binding orders given by the President of the United States of America, usually given to aid officials in the enforcement of previously created laws.
Inherent Power
The power of executive orders is an inherent power given to the President by the Constitution, since it is assumed to be a power.
Line Item Veto
Definition
Line item vetos are a special type of veto where the president has the power to veto certain lines or parts of a bill without vetoing the whole bill.
Who wants it?
The President wants this power because it gives them power over Congress, Congress doesn't want it because it gives the President more power.
Vice President: Joe Biden
Job Description
The Vice President is the head of the Senate, first in line for presidency should anything happen to the President and as such most of their job is to be ready to take over.
