*Though there are currently nine justices, at times there have been as many as ten and as few as five members of the Court, the number of justices is decided by the President*
Job Description
The purpose of the nine Supreme Court justices is to interpret the Constitution and hear court cases where a law is under scrutiny for it's constitutionality. The justices are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate and once instated into office, they serve until they retire, die or are removed from office.
*Judical review is the power of the Supreme Court to declare a law unconstitutional*


*District Courts are the courts located directly beneath the Supreme Court*
District Courts
District Courts, also known as courts of appeals, try cases where the defendent believes that there was a legal error or misconduct during his or her trial court trial and would like to appeal, or turn over, the decision of the lower court.
